welcome to year 2

We are the 'Rabbits' and the 'Chipmunks'!

The teachers in Year 2 are: Mrs Trendall and Mrs Branchett.

The teaching assistants are: Mrs Underwood, Mrs Mann and Mrs Joel.

What to bring to school

Every day, you need to have the following items in school:

     - correct school uniform and shoes

     - book bag with reading books / reading record

     - water bottle

     - PE kit

We have all the stationery that you will need, so please do not bring any pencil cases in.

Please make sure that all items are named.

Reading

The children should take home two or three reading books from the classroom and can change their books as frequently as needed.

Don't forget to get an adult to sign your Reading Record and bookmark every time that you read at home - each read is a signature - no more than twice per day (class reading books/ library books/ own books). The minimum expectation is five times each week for around 15 minutes.

We visit the library as a class once every two weeks.

All of Year 2 are also able to visit the library on a Monday lunchtime. If you want to swap books, remember to bring them in on these days. You are allowed to borrow two library books at a time and keep them for up to two weeks.

At the bottom of the page is a recommended read list for Year 2 children. Some of the books we have/will be reading in class. This is not an exhaustive or compulsory list.

Home Learning

Spelling/ Grammar home learning is set on a Friday and must be completed by the following Thursday.

Maths home learning is set on a Friday and must be completed by the following Thursday.

TTRockstars / Numbots is ongoing, but little and often is best!

PE

Our PE days are Monday and Friday. Please bring your correct kit to school in a named bag and bring trainers suitable for sport (not plimsolls).

 KS1 Teacher Assessment Framework

In addition to the teaching of the National Curriculum, at the end of KS1, the Teacher Assessment Frameworks are used to help us make judgements about your child's standard of work by the end of Year 2. This is in addition to the regular assessments we complete at school. The frameworks focus on key aspects of the core subjects in the form of 'I can' statements. Please find the link below (in red) for more information.
